WordPress Plugin – Search Engine Optimization & Open Graph Protocol

 

If you have had a WordPress website or blog for very long, you know there are a multitude of plugins for Search Engine Optimization, Open Graph Protocol and anything else you could ever want to add to your WordPress website.

The problem for website and blog developers is most WordPress plugins will load there own css style sheets and Javascript files, as well as create numerous unnecessary functions that must process in WordPress. This increases your website’s load time significantly. There are many studies around demonstrating the importance of having a fast website. Visitors simply will not wait for your site to load if it takes more than a few seconds on broadband. If the visitor is using dial up, forget it. They left before the first image loaded.

If the plugin doesn’t slow your site down so much your visitors leave before your page loads, it will require you to enter a unique description and separate keyword list for each and every post on your website manually.

SEO-OGP is a very simple plugin that will automatically generate the OGP meta tags as well as keyword and description meta tags to the head of every page on your WordPress website. The SEO-OGP plugin generates unique meta tags for each page and it will NOT increase your load time. Here is an example of what the SEO-OGP plugin adds for an About Us page.

The plugin is simple and ready to use right out of the box. Simply download the seo-ogp.zip file by clicking the download button below. Then install and activate the plugin from your WordPress admin panel. That is it. Your meta tags will automatically be generated and added to the head of every page and post on your website.

Everything below is OPTIONAL!

There are some options you can easily add. After the plugin has been installed and activated in your admin panel, you will see a SEO-OGP link under settings.

When you click the SEO-OGP tab you will see the above screen. The first optional field is “fb_appid.” If you are using a Facebook Application to integrate your website with MORE than just the Facebook “like” button and other Facebook social plugins, you will need to enter your Facebook Application ID. Most users will not use this field.

The next optional field is “fb:admins.” If you are going to use the Facebook “Like” button or any other Facebook social plugins on your website, you will need to enter your facebook User ID. The next option is the “fb:type” field. This value will default to “article” if left blank. For more information on Facebook object types visit http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/#types.

The last optional field is the extra keyword field. Here you can add keywords that will be added to the auto generated keywords. These should be generic keywords as they will appear on every page. The most common use for this option would be geo locators.

Lastly, you may have noticed a file named default.jpg in the seo-ogp folder. This is the image the plugin will use for the OGP meta tags “image_src” and “image_url” if there IS NOT a featured image set for the page or post being viewed. You should replace it with your logo just in case you forget to set a featured image when you make a post. Just be sure to rename it default.jpg and upload it to the seo-ogp folder. The ”image_src” and “image_url” OGP meta tags are the images displayed when you post a link to your website on Facebook.

The download link is below. It is a very small file and this is a high speed server. If you blink you will miss the download. Check your downloads folder, it will be there.
