Facebook Comments WordPress Plug In

The Facebook comments pictured above appear on Sunrise Aviation’s website. Some of the comments were made on the website and some were made on Facebook. But they all appear on the website as well as on Facebook. There is much discussion about whether or not Google and the other search engines crawl frames like the Facebook comment box. I say they do, but what do I know. But the comments are not wasted even if Google doesn’t crawl them. The SEO-OGP-COMMENTS plugin queries the Facebook api and hard codes the comments behind the like box. Also on the above page, the comments are used in the alt and title tags for the image of the young pilot with a shortcode. Something else worth noting, you can post as your website on these comment boxes off Facebook if your website is integrated with OGP. Then as you can see in the image below the comment with the link to your website post to Facebook.

Facebook Commenting WordPress Plugin

SEO-OGP-COMMENTS is a very powerful yet simple plugin that will automatically generate the OGP meta tags as well as keyword and description meta tags to the head of every page on your WordPress blog or website. The plugin will also allow you to add a Facebook comment box to any page or post with shortcodes. In order to use the comments feature, you must first set up your blog or website as a Facebook application. It is very easy to do.

Detailed Instruction for Setting up Your Website or Blog as a Facebook Application

Install and activate the SEO-OGP-COMMENTS plugin through your WordPress admin panel. After the plugin is activated, you will see a SEO-OGP-COMMENTS link under “Settings” in the lower left in the admin panel.

When you click the SEO-OGP-COMMENTS link you will see the above setup page. There are 6 settings you can input. The first is your website application id. It is labeled fb:app_id. If you have not yet added your website as an app on Facebook, click this link for Detailed Instruction for Setting up Your Website or Blog as a Facebook Application. If you are having trouble finding your app id, be sure you are logged in and follow this link. There you can find your app ID. This feild is only required if you use the Facebook comments box

The second field is the Administrators Personal Facebook ID. It is labeled fb:admins. You can enter more than one administrator as a comma separated list. You can find your user id by visiting:http://apps.facebook.com/what-is-my-user-id/. This field is required

The next field is the Facebook object type field. It is labeled fb:type. For more information on ogp object types please visit:http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/#types. This field is optional.

The forth field is the keyword field. It is labeled keywords. Keywords are automatically generated by the plugin. Here you can add a comma separated list of keywords to appear on every page along with the auto generated keywords. This field is optional.

The fifth field is the comment box width field. The default width is 400px. You can make the comment box any width you like. This field is optional.

The last field is the SEO meta tag field. It is labeled seo_meta. Since some premium WordPress themes already generate the keyword and description meta tags, you can disable those meta tags in this plugin by typing yes in this field. This field is optional.

To add a comment box, use the shortcode [addcomments]. To get a SEO boost from the comments, the plugin pulls the comments from the Facebook api and hard codes them “behind” the comment box. You can also add them anywhere on the page or post, or you can add them to alt and title tags of images as I have done for the “download” image blow. Simply use the shortcode [pullcomments].
